Let’s face it: building your personal brand can sometimes feel like juggling flaming torches while riding a unicycle. There’s a lot to think about—your online presence, your tone of voice, your message… and somewhere in there, your face. That’s where I come in.
I’m Alan, a photographer based on the Wirral, and I specialise in headshots, personal branding, portrait, and product photography. But this blog isn’t about me—it’s about you and how the right photos can help you tell your story, show your personality, and connect with the people you want to work with.
So, what is personal branding photography?
Personal branding photography is more than just a nice headshot (although those help). It’s a series of images that represent your identity, your values, and what it’s like to work with you. Whether you’re a freelancer, business owner, or professional climbing the ladder, personal branding helps make your first impression the right impression.
It’s not about staging the perfect shot in a high-rise office with crossed arms and a stern face (unless that’s your vibe). It’s about creating authentic, relaxed imagery that reflects who you are.
Why should you care?
People connect with people—not logos. In today’s world, where most first impressions are made online, your photo is often the first thing someone sees before they even speak to you.
Here’s what personal branding photography can help with:
✔️ Building trust and relatability
✔️ Elevating your professional look across platforms (LinkedIn, your website, proposals)
✔️ Telling your story in a visual, engaging way
✔️ Showing you at your best—no awkward poses, no clichés
What to expect when we work together
If the idea of being in front of the camera makes you want to hide under the duvet, don’t worry. I bring the studio to you—whether that’s your office, a local spot you love, or even your home. I work in a calm, relaxed way (no barking directions or over-stylised setups), so the experience is comfortable, natural, and maybe even fun. Yes, really.
We’ll chat beforehand about who you are, what you do, and what you want people to feel when they see your images. That way, your photos look like you, not someone playing dress-up in a stock photo.
A few tips to get the most from your shoot
Wear something that feels like you. You don’t need a whole new wardrobe—just something clean, comfy, and confidence-boosting.
Think about your platforms. Are you a LinkedIn regular? Active on Instagram? We’ll shoot with your audience in mind.
Bring a prop (or two). A laptop, notebook, coffee mug—even your dog, if that’s part of your brand! These help tell your story visually.
Relax. It’s not a school photo. We’re capturing your personality, not just your face.
Let’s create something real
If you're based on the Wirral or surrounding areas and you’re ready to refresh your online presence—or simply want images that actually look like you—I’d love to hear from you. You don’t need a marketing strategy or a five-year plan. Just a story to tell and the willingness to show up as you are.
